Today, the Al-Balahat area in the village of Al-Zeiniya, north of Luxor Governorate, witnessed a tragic accident that resulted in the death of an 8-year-old child after he was hit by a train while passing near the tracks.

Local sources reported that the child was walking next to the railway track before he lost his balance and fell in front of the train, dying instantly from his severe injuries.

Residents rushed to the accident site as soon as they heard the impact, before police forces and ambulances arrived at the scene.

The body was immediately removed and transferred to the morgue of Karnak International Hospital in Luxor at the disposal of the investigating authorities, in preparation for starting the necessary investigations and summoning the child’s family to hear their statements.

Security sources confirmed that the investigations will include reviewing the circumstances of the accident, in addition to determining the extent of citizens’ compliance with safety procedures while passing next to the railway line.

The concerned authorities also stressed the need to educate people about the danger of approaching train tracks, especially in villages where open lines pass without fences.

A state of sadness prevailed among the people of Al-Ziniyah after the news of the child’s death spread, demanding increased security measures in the areas adjacent to the railway, in order to preserve the lives of children and passers-by.
