According to local reports, the accident resulted in at least 14 children being injured, including two cases described as serious, after a giant dragon-shaped swing collapsed during its operation inside the annual fairgrounds in the state of Madhya Pradesh, as the toy suddenly collided with a nearby wall.
The circulating video showed terrifying moments of children flying off the stage following the collapse, while those present at the scene rushed to provide assistance to the injured who fell to the ground, in a scene that sparked a state of panic inside the exhibition.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the ride seemed unstable and crowded with passengers before the accident, noting the absence of any clear inspection or insurance procedures.
One of those present told local media: The game seemed weak from the beginning, and we did not see anyone checking its safety.
For its part, the police explained that the injured suffered fractures, wounds and bruises of varying severity, while some of the passengers who remained suspended in the game miraculously survived serious injuries.
Police Chief Pratipal Singh Mahobia said that preliminary investigations indicate that there are serious gaps in safety procedures, pointing out that the concerned authorities are currently focusing on the possibility of overloading the game, in addition to the poor quality of the materials used in its manufacture.
He added that the authorities opened an official investigation into the incident, and a special team was formed, including the police and specialized engineers, to find out the real reasons for the collapse of the game and hold those responsible for the incident accountable.
