Club football sector officials settled ZamalekIn coordination with Motamed Gamal, the technical director of the first football team, to retain a number of youth sector players within the ranks of the first team, after their distinguished appearance during Zamalek’s recent participation in the Egyptian Capital Cup, and not to return them again to the youth teams during the next stage.
A source within the club confirmed, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that John Edward, the sporting director, reached an agreement with Motamed Gamal to continue some of the young players who performed at remarkable levels with the first team during the last period, noting that the decision came after the technical staff was convinced of the technical and physical capabilities of these players, and a desire to give them the opportunity to continue with the adults.
The source explained that this trend will remain in place even if all international players return during the coming period, as the technical staff believes that the team is in dire need of strengthening its ranks with a sufficient number of elements, especially in light of the continued suspension of registration, in addition to the large number of injuries that the team has suffered recently.
The source added that the young players proved that they possess distinguished technical capabilities, which won the praise of the technical staff and football management, stressing that they represent important solutions that can be relied upon during the next stage.
The source concluded his statements by emphasizing that Motamed Gamal will finally decide the names of the players continuing with the first team, in light of the emergence of more than one name remarkably during the recent period.
