A top-secret document titled the Supremacy Briefing warns that he conducted war games Pentagonsimulating a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, suggests that China could cripple US fighter squadrons, major warships, and even satellite networks, before they can deploy effectively.

The document, prepared by the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment, shows that the United States’ reliance on advanced and expensive weapons makes it vulnerable to China’s cheaper and faster-producing weapons, according to the New York Times.

The report warned that China has developed the ability to neutralize vital American assets from the first moments of any conflict, and this comes days after Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun warned the United States of the need to deal with the Taiwan issue with the utmost caution.

The report, which was recently delivered to senior White House officials, said that China’s rapidly maturing arsenal – particularly its long-range precision missiles, its expanding fleet of advanced aircraft, large surface ships, and its counter-space capabilities – are putting US forces at a significant operational disadvantage in the region.

The report indicated that China has accumulated an arsenal of approximately 600 hypersonic weapons, which can fly at five times the speed of sound and are difficult to intercept, according to what was stated in the text.

And when a senior US National Security Council official under the Biden administration received an Overmatch briefing in 2021, he turned pale after realizing that for every trick we had, China had alternatives and layers of reserve upon reserve, an official who attended the meeting said, according to the New York Times.

China may seek to begin a bid to take control of Taiwan in 2027

Although Beijing has not set a date for a possible invasion of Taiwan, Western intelligence assessments indicate that China may seek to begin an attempt to control the island by 2027, a time frame that is in line with President Xi Jinping’s goals to modernize his military.

The report indicates that China may be able to destroy many advanced American weapons, such as aircraft carriers, before they even approach Taiwan, using missiles it has accumulated over the past twenty years.

In war games that simulate battlefield scenarios, the evaluation concluded that the US Navy’s newest aircraft carrier often fails to withstand attacks.

The report also drew on real-world examples, as the war in Ukraine continues to test Western weapons on the battlefield, while US adversaries learn from both their strengths and weaknesses.

The assessment also warned that the United States no longer has the industrial capacity to produce weapons and munitions at the speed and scale needed to fight a protracted conflict with a major power.

He stated that Washington is falling behind in the race to develop advanced weapons at a rapid pace compared to Beijing and Moscow, because it relies excessively on expensive and vulnerable weapons.

The report added that the United States has become more at risk because its stockpiles of missiles have already been depleted due to the military support provided to Israel and Ukraine.

Internal assessments at the Pentagon indicate that China is now far superior to the United States in most categories of cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, even though the two countries maintain about 400 intercontinental ballistic missiles each.

Washington also reportedly expended about a quarter of its stock of high-altitude interceptor missiles while defending Israel during Iran’s 12-day ballistic missile barrage in June.
