A ministry source said electricity And renewable energy. The Ministry’s companies are implementing a comprehensive plan to review the components of the electrical network before the summer of 2026, which includes replacing and renewing transformers whose lifespan has ended, which in some cases may reach about 20 years of operation.
Electricity Source: A comprehensive plan to replace and renew transformers in preparation for the summer… and supply 42 new transformers to support the network
The source explained in statements to Cairo 24 that the Ministry is also installing new transformers in areas that have witnessed a noticeable increase in population density or expansion of commercial and industrial activities, with the aim of supporting the electrical network and ensuring continuity of nutrition and no interruption of power to subscribers, in light of the steady rise in loads and the inability of some old transformers to absorb the increase in demand.
He pointed out that these procedures are implemented periodically every year, but the budget allocations during the current year were larger and exceeded the barrier of one billion pounds, which allowed for a contract with Al-Nasr Transformer Manufacturing Company to supply 42 transformers with voltages of 66/22/11 kilovolts, as part of the network strengthening plan.
The source added that identifying the areas most in need of support is done through precise technical studies prepared by the Studies and Projects Sector in cooperation with the National Control Center of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, to monitor areas of increased loads and ensure the network’s readiness to face peak consumption.
