Egg prices in Egypt

This price stability is supported by a huge local production of up to 13 billion eggs annually, with total investments in the sector estimated at about 90 billion pounds, with the participation of more than 50,000 establishments working in this vital field, which provides about 2.5 million job opportunities.

The government seeks to maximize the benefit of this production by opening new foreign markets, especially with the presence of 30 institutions certified free of bird flu.

To facilitate exports, the Ministry of Agriculture increased its production capacity of veterinary vaccines to 2 billion doses annually, with a focus on developing integrated poultry projects in Fayoum and desert areas, ensuring that local needs are met and an export surplus is achieved that supports foreign exchange.

Strategic plans for developing poultry wealth

The state’s plan to advance the poultry sector includes allocating 19,000 acres in 4 governorates to establish integrated projects that include the stages of hatching, production, slaughterhouses, and feed production.

This plan aims to encourage investment in desert areas away from the valley and delta, while examining the exploitation of renewable energy such as solar energy and wind energy in operating farms, to reduce production costs, preserve the environment, and ensure sustainable growth in this sector.

Official data confirmed that the per capita share of eggs from local farms reaches 130 eggs annually, in light of the presence of a strong manufacturing base that includes about 1,500 licensed feed factories.

The Poultry Producers Union is pushing to include the industry in export support programs, benefiting from the advanced infrastructure and facilities that apply the highest standards of biosecurity, which enhances the competitiveness of the Egyptian product in the Arab, African and global markets.
