Director of the French Center for Alexandria Studies, Thomas Foucher, confirmed that the center’s mission found more than five thousand stone blocks dating back to the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, “one of the Seven Wonders of the World,” during its working seasons, and a project is now being implemented to virtually rebuild the ancient lighthouse.
The director of the center explained – in exclusive statements to the Middle East News Agency – that the project to rebuild the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria virtually is taking place through a three-dimensional model, and its implementation is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year.
He added, “We have dedicated a website about the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria that includes all the information and is currently available in French. We are in the process of translating it into English and Arabic, and it will include all the known details about the Lighthouse of Alexandria.”
He also revealed that the Alexandria Studies Center mission will begin its work next April and aims to find new discoveries about the remains of the ancient lighthouse near Qaitbay Citadel.
In a related context, Foucher praised the position of the Library of Alexandria as “an edifice of culture, knowledge, and global civilization,” stressing that it is a center of science and knowledge.
He appreciated the importance of the activities hosted by the library, including the Egyptian Beliefs Exhibition on the Black Sea coast, which embodies the relationship between Egypt and Bulgaria and reflects the ancient history of cooperation and interconnection between the two sides, as reflected in the multiple monuments.
