Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, confirmed the continuation and intensification of control campaigns on markets, commercial establishments, bakeries, and gas stations, as part of efforts to control markets, preserve the health and safety of citizens, prevent manipulation of basic commodity prices, and confront all forms of commercial fraud and the trading of goods that are not fit for human consumption.

This came during the governor’s discussion of the weekly report on the efforts of the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade for the period from January 24 to 30, in cooperation with the Supply Investigations, Veterinary Medicine, and food inspectors at the Directorate of Health, and Stamps and Weights, which was presented by Engineer Muhammad Abdel Rahman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply.

466 various catering violations were issued within a week in Beni Suef

The report explained that the ration campaigns resulted in the issuance of 466 ration violations, including violations at municipal bakeries, ration clerks, and my association project outlets, possession of goods of unknown origin, disposal and assembly of ration supplies, as well as violations in public markets, milk collection centers, agricultural fertilizers, and petroleum materials, practicing activities without a license, lack of valid health certificates, and failure to announce prices.

As part of the governorate’s preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the main exhibition of the Welcome Ramadan initiative was opened in the city of Beni Suef, in cooperation between the Supply Directorate, the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Unit, to provide basic food and consumer goods, meat and vegetables at reduced prices, with the aim of reducing the burden on citizens and tightening control over markets and sales outlets.

Regarding the mills file, the report indicated the continuation of daily visits to the mills to follow up on incomings and outgoings and stocks of flour and wheat, and to withdraw random samples and send them to central laboratories to indicate the extent of their conformity with standard specifications and their suitability for human use.

The committees formed in the supply departments also continue to receive and examine requests from citizens and farmers for the disbursement of coarse bran (rada) for raising livestock, by reviewing documents, conducting field inspections, and preparing reports to indicate eligibility for disbursement or not.

In the field of oversight of municipal bakeries, 261 reports were issued for various violations, including the production of bread that did not meet specifications or was underweight, lack of cleanliness, and the lack of approved scales or data lists, in addition to the disposal of subsidized flour on the black market, where 98 bags of municipal flour were seized, in addition to the seizure of 25 bags of combined subsidized flour, and the seizures were seized.

The number of bakeries that were converted to operate on natural gas reached 302 out of a total of 1,276 active bakeries across the governorate, ensuring regular production of local bread, especially during official holidays.

With regard to ration exchanges and ration cards, coordination was made with the Egyptian Wholesale Trade Company to ensure the availability of goods and the regular disbursement of rations. The outlets were visited and about 25% of the rations for the month of February 2026 were disbursed. The campaigns resulted in the issuance of a number of reports for non-compliance with the requirements, which included closure during working hours, the absence of health certificates, failure to announce prices, and failure to provide a disbursement bonus.

In the field of market control, 2 misdemeanors were issued against dairy collection centers for using milk unfit for human consumption, and 1,000 liters of spoiled milk were seized, in addition to 10 misdemeanors for possession and sale of goods of unknown origin, and large quantities of food, feed, flour, pasta, butter, fish, and poultry were seized.

Also, 10 misdemeanors were issued for selling expired goods, 8 misdemeanors were issued against butchers for displaying meat slaughtered outside government slaughterhouses, 45 misdemeanors for not announcing prices, and 45 other misdemeanors for not having valid health certificates.

In the field of monitoring gas stations and butane depots, 11 reports were issued for various violations in butane depots, 500 liters of diesel fuel was seized inside an unlicensed sidewalk pump, and the necessary legal measures were taken against the violators, and presented to the investigating authorities.
