Al-Nabrawi: I support the decision, but with controls
Al-Nabrawi said during television statements: I support the decision, but with controls, indicating that expatriates should be treated in particular, expecting that the decision will be amended in their favor very soon.
Regarding the reason for his support of the decision, Al-Nabrawy explained that the decision aims primarily to protect the local industry, noting that there are 6 factories in Egypt that produce 15 international mobile phone brands.
Al-Nabrawy said that the vast majority of expatriates do not buy iPhones, proposing an idea of giving the expatriate a discount of up to 25% when he buys a phone from brands that are assembled in Egypt, in exchange for his stay.
Al-Nabrawi stressed that the decision should not be “deaf” and should take the expatriate into consideration, noting that the current proposals aim to end the state of controversy and provide economic alternatives that guarantee price stability and support the state’s hard currency resources.
