The Department of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection in the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Menoufia Governorate, in Sadat City, was launched as part of ongoing field work to preserve the health and safety of food offered to citizens, and to ensure the quality and suitability of meat, poultry and fish traded in butcher shops, restaurants, markets and various sales places.

The campaign came in implementation of the directives of Major General Ibrahim Abu Laymoun, Governor of Menoufia, to intensify monitoring campaigns in all centers and cities of the governorate, and the directives of Dr. Hamid Al-Aqnas, Head of the General Authority for Veterinary Services, and was commissioned by Major General Dr. Maged Abdel Zaher, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Veterinary Medicine in Menoufia, and the instructions and coordination of Dr. Taha Mohamed Rizk, Director of the Department of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection in the Directorate.

The inspection committee in Sadat City was formed from doctors from the slaughterhouse and meat inspection department, and included Dr. Ayman Sweilem, Dr. Mohamed Fathi, and Dr. Hamid Barhouma, head of the slaughterhouse department at the Sadat Veterinary Department, under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Sultan, director of the Sadat Veterinary Department.
The campaign resulted in the seizure of local meat unfit for human consumption, with a total weight of about 155 kg, as it was found to be unsuitable and in violation of health and veterinary requirements, which represents a threat to public health.
The seized items were seized, and all necessary legal measures were taken regarding the incident, with the required reports being prepared and presented to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal decisions.
The Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Menoufia confirmed the continuation of daily morning and evening campaigns in various parts of the governorate, and that any violations affecting the health of citizens will not be tolerated, stressing the need for shop owners to adhere to health requirements, in order to preserve food safety and protect the consumer.
