According to RTLnieuws, the Bolivian police reported that the bus was driven by a minor between the ages of 13 and 14, who died in the accident, and according to a preliminary toll, the list of victims included seven adults and four minors, including the driver.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Miguel Lippi, said that preliminary data indicate that the vehicle deviated from the road before colliding with a tree, noting that four injured people were transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
The police added that preliminary investigations showed that some of the passengers were drunk, which may have been one of the factors that contributed to the accident, stressing that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact causes and hold them responsible.
This accident comes in the context of a series of recurring traffic accidents in Bolivia, where Interior Ministry data show that about 1,400 people lose their lives annually on the roads, often as a result of reckless driving or mechanical malfunctions.
