He decided Project Development Authority Medium, small and micro enterprises extended the second phase of the “Our Heritage” handicrafts and heritage exhibition held at City Stars in Nasr City on Friday and Saturday, due to the great public demand for the exhibition since its launch.
Basil Rahmy, CEO of the Enterprise Development Authority, explained that the extension of the exhibition’s activities came in cooperation and coordination with the City Stars Mall, to maximize the benefit of handicraft owners from the public’s interest during the weekend, stressing the fruitful cooperation with Mr. Mohamed Abu Al-Yazid, Managing Director and CEO of City Stars Real Estate Management and Consulting Company, in implementing this exhibition under the auspices of the National Bank of Egypt.
Rahmi pointed out that the agency is developing an ambitious plan to support handicrafts and heritage in cooperation with major commercial centers and financial institutions, which will contribute to the advancement of this vital sector, support craft projects, and open new horizons for local and international marketing of these products.
He stressed that the “Our Heritage” exhibition has achieved great success since its launch in its two phases between December 1 and 18, with the participation of 240 exhibitors and the reception of thousands of Egyptian visitors and tourists interested in unique heritage handmade products, noting that the exhibition is an ideal platform for enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, and highlighting cultural diversity and authentic Egyptian identity.
Rahmi pointed out the agency’s keenness to implement the directives of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and Chairman of the agency’s board of directors, to provide all means of support to owners of handicrafts and heritage, especially craft projects and production clusters in the governorates of Upper Egypt, the border governorates, and Sinai, as they are most in need of support, development, and marketing. He added that this support includes training craftsmen to develop their products, providing the necessary funding to improve productivity, involving them in local and international exhibitions, and opening new marketing outlets for them, which contributes to preserving skilled workers and enhancing their marketing opportunities.
The CEO of the Enterprise Development Agency also called on all owners of handicraft and heritage projects to go to the agency’s branches in various governorates of the Republic to obtain financial and non-financial support, develop their projects, and expand the marketing of their products, in a way that contributes to enhancing economic development and supporting the craft sector as it is a basic pillar for preserving the Egyptian cultural identity and transmitting the craft heritage to future generations.
Rahmi stressed that supporting handicrafts and heritage represents an essential part of the strategy for developing small and medium enterprises, launched by the Prime Minister, which aims to enable project owners to improve the quality of production and enhance their ability to compete in local and international markets.
