
Engineer Karim Badawi witnessed, Minister of Petroleum During his visit to the Australian city of Perth, a letter of intent was signed between the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority, represented by geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Authority, and the Australian Murdoch University, represented by Professor Martin Brueckner, Vice President of the University.
The signing comes within the framework of transferring advanced expertise from Murdoch University and the Western Australia region to the Egyptian side, through specialized training programs aimed at developing the practical capabilities of Egyptian mining cadres and enhancing the regulatory efficiency of the Authority.
Under the letter, advanced training programs tailored to meet the Authority’s needs will be held, including workshops on: strategic regulation, governance and inspections, critical minerals and advanced sediment systems. It was also agreed on the possibility of presenting future programs in electronic or hybrid formats that combine physical attendance and digital training, to increase access to them, in addition to Egyptian universities benefiting from the content of this cooperation.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed his happiness at reaching a general framework for the agreement, stressing that the signing comes to support the Authority’s strategic objectives, which include ensuring sustainable development of the mining sector and enhancing the organizational and applied capabilities of its cadres through practical training and learning about best practices in regulatory institutions and international mining sites in Western Australia.
The Minister stressed the importance of benefiting from the distinguished regulatory experience in Western Australia to enhance efficiency and supervision of mining operations and ensure the highest safety standards, in addition to supporting the scientific expertise of Murdoch University in the fields of vital minerals used in renewable energy and extraction operations.
The minister pointed out that the letter of intent represents the basis for a long-term partnership that includes future programs to develop human capabilities in the mining sector, and enhance cooperation between Egyptian and Australian expertise in terms of training and practical practices.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was confirmed that arrangements would immediately begin to hold the “Strategic Organization and Mining Governance” workshop, which will be the first joint cooperation program, with preparations to develop new programs according to the Authority’s needs, in a way that ensures raising the efficiency of human cadres and enhancing performance in the Egyptian mining sector.
