Apple is preparing to launch a group of new devices next week, including a new MacBook for the economy class codenamed J700, along with updated versions of the MacBook Pro equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. However, the company’s plans this year will not be limited to these releases only.
Recent reports reveal that in late 2026 Apple will finally introduce versions of the MacBook Pro with touchscreens, a long-awaited move. According to informed sources, the company will announce two 14- and 16-inch models, known internally as K114 and K116.
This move represents a striking shift in Apple’s philosophy, which has long opposed the idea of touch-screen laptops. Steve Jobs thought that vertical surfaces were uncomfortable for touch use, but the company now seems ready to reconsider this trend.
Information indicates that the MacBook Pro with a touchscreen will offer different usage modes; One is for touch input, and the other is based on the traditional cursor approach. When Touch Mode is activated, macOS will display additional menus and contextual options that appear around the touch point on the screen for easier use.
Furthermore, the upcoming devices will have OLED displays, a feature that has been rumored for years. It will also adopt a design that includes a Dynamic Island in the upper middle part of the screen, but in a smaller size than the one in iPhones, with a front opening in a hole-like design.
