Last week, Nothing launched the Android 16 update with the Nothing OS 4.0 interface for the Nothing Phone (3), and now the company has expanded the launch to include the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro for a limited number of users, with the wide launch starting soon if the first batch passes without problems.

Nothing OS 4.0 brings obvious visual and system improvements, with AI-driven features and better camera support. It has also become possible to easily hide applications from the home screen and the application drawer, in addition to customizing the search scope within the drawer. The company has added new size options for weather, pedometer, and screen time widgets, with 2×2 size support for most quick settings tiles.

Nothing has improved the Essential Space mode to display the AI panel more clearly, while the Flip to Record feature has gained the ability to take photos and take notes while recording.

The company also provided the Playground (Alpha) space to experience innovative applications and content from the community, in addition to making Essential Apps (Alpha) available for download.

At the interface level, the Nothing icons have been completely redesigned, the status bar has been updated, and two new faces have been added to the lock screen clock, with the activation of Extra Dark Mode for those looking for a deeper look, and improvements to movement and transitions.

As for the Glyph interface, it has a new setting to control the Flip to Glyph mode, in addition to using Live Update notifications to achieve better compatibility.

Improvements to the camera include newer photographic modes, options for adjusting the intensity of filters, longer recording of action photos with sound, the addition of Watermarks art frames from Nothing, and a smoother interface design.

Nothing confirms that you must update Essential Space to take advantage of the Flip to Record improvements, and recommends that you back up your data before installing the update.
