Philips Hue announced a new feature called SpatialAware, which aims to coordinate lighting in a room naturally and balanced, during CES 2026 in Las Vegas on January 5, 2026. The feature customizes colors for each lamp depending on its location in the room, producing more realistic and fluid lighting effects.

SpatialAware scans the room with a smartphone camera using augmented reality technology to pinpoint the locations of the lights, and then an intelligent algorithm coordinates each light point individually. For example, in a sunset scene, lamps on one side emit warm, yellow colors to represent the setting sun, while ceiling lamps on the opposite side emit darker tones. The feature also handles color gradients in a way that takes into account orientation, and automatically takes in any lights added later.

The feature works exclusively with the Hue Bridge Pro, and is activated when a lighting scene such as “Lake Mist” is selected, coordinating all the lights to avoid random color mixing. SpatialAware is expected to launch in spring 2026.

Other announcements include updates to the Hue AI assistant, such as creating natural language automations (such as “Wake me up at 6:45 a.m. every day except Wednesday”), adding new languages (Dutch, German, and Spanish), and support for transferring settings from multiple Hue Bridges to a single Bridge Pro. The Hue Secure Camera, Hue Secure Doorbell and contact sensors are also now compatible with Apple Home, with live video and push notifications.

Philips Hue did not announce specific pricing for the new feature or products in this announcement.
