Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has taken an unexpected turn with a new free update that brings it together with Stranger Things, taking players straight into downtown Hawkins.

The update has recreated the city in meticulous detail, allowing players to fly over familiar locations filled with the series’ eerie, nostalgic atmosphere.

The experience focuses on five narrative rescue missions, where players are tasked with piloting the Bell UH-1H Huey helicopter to assist the residents of Hawkins during their final encounter with the world of the Upside Down.

This update is considered an innovative and fun twist on the usual simulator structure, as it combines realistic flight mechanics with interesting narrative objectives, making the player feel as if he is part of the Stranger Things world inside the simulator.

This update recalls the attention to detail previously seen in the 2024 Dune update and the Jurassic World update earlier this year.

Players hope these trends continue to more impressive places in the future, including a simulation of the planet Genna from the movie Predator: Badlands, with the ability to fly in Yautja’s meticulously detailed interior ships.

The Stranger Things expansion is available for free to all owners of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. After updating the game, you can download the expansion and begin exploring Hawkins from the air immediately. Good luck, pilots, stay safe, and don’t let the Demogorgons get close.
