Japanese startup Ludens AI announced two new home robots during CES 2026 in Las Vegas on January 5, 2026. They feature a very cute, pet-like design to be daily companions at home. The two robots aim to provide an emotional interactive experience with the help of artificial intelligence, focusing on companionship and simple assistance without major technical complications.

The first robot comes in the form of a small dog called Lumi, with natural tail and head movements, responds to voice and touch commands, and makes cute sounds to express “feelings.” The second robot resembles a cat named Miko, with calmer movements and responsiveness to petting, and both are equipped with speakers to play music or stories, and a simple camera for facial recognition.

The two robots operate with a partially local artificial intelligence system to maintain privacy, with support for a phone application for control and updates, and a battery that lasts up to 8 hours of interaction. Ludens AI has not announced specific pricing, but each robot is expected to cost between $300 and $500, with them being available in Japanese markets first and then globally during the second half of 2026.

The two robots are seen as an attempt to bring robotic companionship into homes in a simple and gentle way, especially for children or the elderly, at a time when interest in emotional robots such as Sony’s Aibo is growing.
