LG unveiled its humanoid robot CLOiD during CES 2026, designed to perform household tasks. After the company hinted at the device last week,
The first reveal provided a view of the AI-powered robot, which LG says is capable of folding laundry, emptying the dishwasher, serving food, and helping with other household tasks.
The CLOiD features a nice-looking head unit with a display, speakers, cameras, and multiple sensors. LG explains that combined, these elements enable the robot to communicate with humans through spoken language and “facial expressions,” understand the living environment and lifestyles of users, and control connected home devices based on what it learns.
The robot contains two mechanical arms with shoulder, elbow and wrist joints, and hands with fingers that move independently. While the company hasn’t shared images of the robot’s base, the CLOiD uses wheels and technology similar to those used in LG’s robot vacuums.
The company explains that the arms are able to lift objects at knee level and above, which means it cannot pick things up from the ground.
LG showed images of the robot performing various tasks, such as starting the wash cycle, folding freshly washed clothes, taking croissants out of the oven, emptying dishes from the dishwasher, and serving food. The photos also showed the robot standing next to a woman during a home exercise, without clarifying the role it plays in this scenario.

This week’s CES will provide a closer look at CLOiD’s laundry-folding and other household tasks, but for now the company appears to be presenting the robot more as an experimental concept than a ready-to-sell product.
LG confirmed that it will continue to develop home robots with practical functions, and will integrate robotics technologies into more of its home appliances, such as refrigerators that open their doors automatically.
