New leaks revealed an important development in Intel and Nvidia’s cooperation, as information indicates that the upcoming Serpent Lake processors may represent Intel’s direct response to AMD Strix Halo processors.

It is expected that these chipsets will combine a powerful central processor from Intel and a huge integrated graphics processor from Nvidia based on RTX technologies.

According to the leak, Serpent Lake is based on the Titan Lake architecture in terms of the central processor, using Griffin Cove cores for performance and Golden Eagle cores for efficiency, in addition to an SoC chip built on the same technologies.

On the other hand, Intel is moving to cooperate with Nvidia to use the RTX Rubin architecture, or a close version of it, as an integrated graphics processor, likely to be manufactured with TSMC N3P precision.

Furthermore, these processors are expected to support LPDDR6 memory with up to 16 channels, with the aim of providing high bandwidth, which is a crucial element to avoid the performance bottlenecks that large integrated graphics processors suffer from.

The leaker also links Serpent Lake to the Nova Lake-AX project, which has not been reported for a while, and which was previously seen as Intel’s solution to compete with Strix Halo, which suggests it will be revived but with the integrated graphics from Intel Arc replaced with an RTX solution from Nvidia.

In general, this potential cooperation opens the door to a major leap in the performance of embedded processors, especially in light laptops and portable gaming devices, with Intel expected to continue supporting and developing Arc solutions in parallel.
