After being previewed by GIGABYTE on multiple occasions, the new Aorus RTX 5060 Ti AI Box external GPU that supports Thunderbolt 5 technology is finally available for purchase. This unit features a desktop-class graphics card with 16 GB of memory, and comes at a price of $699.99, which is not much more than the cost of the graphics card itself if sold individually.

GIGABYTE had first revealed the “Aorus RTX 5060 Ti AI Box” in early September 2025, then provided a more detailed look later, but did not announce pricing or availability at the time. Today, the device is available through the Newegg store, making it an attractive option for those wishing to enhance the capabilities of their devices via an external graphics card, especially since it comes with a 330-watt power adapter.

In terms of performance, GIGABYTE claims that the unit is only 5% slower compared to installing the card directly into the device via the PCIe port, based on the results of the “3DMark Timespy” test. However, it should be noted that this test does not necessarily reflect actual performance in games, as other independent tests show a noticeable difference in performance in favor of a direct connection compared to a “Thunderbolt 5” connection. The unit also supports the “USB4 v2” standard, expanding its compatibility with modern laptops and minicomputers (such as the Minisforum MS-S1 Max).

The Aorus RTX 5060 Ti AI Box provides various connectivity options beyond just being a graphics card, as it includes the following ports:

1x Thunderbolt 5 port for peripherals with Power Delivery (PD 3.0) support.

1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port.

2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port.

1x Ethernet port.

3x DisplayPort 2.1b ports.

1x HDMI 2.1b port.

For those looking for greater graphics power, the company also offers the “Aorus RTX 5090 AI Box” version, which performed well in in-depth reviews.
