Sony Honda Mobility will showcase the new Afeela 1 at CES 2026, six years after introducing the Vision-S prototype at CES 2020.

Pricing starts at $89,900, and it offers a range of about 300 miles, with a quiet exterior design that includes a small strip of 31.5-inch-wide Micro-LED lights at the front of the car.

The Afeela 1 interior offers a luxurious experience that includes 28 speakers supported by Dolby Atmos technology, and a wide display screen that extends over the dashboard with intelligent segmentation of passenger applications while protecting driver privacy. The car also supports participation in Zoom meetings while driving, and provides a Level 2+ driver assistance system with a promise to be upgraded to Level 4 in the future.

The car’s digital system is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis, and allows customization of ambient lighting, engine sounds, and information display on the front bar. Entertainment equipment and customization capabilities include third-party interface development software within the Afeela Co-Creation programme.

Despite the advanced equipment, the biggest challenge remains the Afeela 1’s high price and its delayed arrival to the market, with the first limited deliveries in California at the end of 2026, while the arrival of the SUV version will be delayed until at least 2028.

The car looks more like a product for brand enthusiasts and those interested in technology, but it faces strong competition from more capable and lower-priced electric cars from luxury brands such as Lucid, Mercedes and BMW.
