Banana Pi has finally released its own WiFi 7 router with the option of 10GbE LAN and WAN. The BPI-R4 Pro is available in two variants with up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and also contains multiple M.2 modules for adding 4G or 5G cellular modules.

Banana Pi has now launched the latest entry in its BPI-R4 series. As a reminder, the BPI-R4 landed in November 2023. Meanwhile, the BPI-R4 Lite debuted in August 2025. Shortly before that, Banana Pi previewed a BPI-R4 Pro board running OpenWRT 24.10 with half a dozen Ethernet ports and WiFi 7 support.

Now, the company has started selling the latter globally in two variants. While the Banana Pi 4E and 8X variants are similar for the most part, they differ in some important areas. For example, the latter is the only variant to feature 10GbE ports (LAN/WAN). In contrast, the BPI-R4 Pro 4E variant makes use of 2.5Gb ports.

Furthermore, the Banana Pi equips the 4E and 8X variants with 4GB and 8GB DDR4 RAM, respectively. Conversely, both BPI-R4 Pro variants feature a MediaTek MT7988A chipset with four ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz, 8GB of eMMC flash storage, a microSD card reader and multiple M.2 slots for B-Key and M-Key expansion.

The BPI-R4 Pro is available to order in 8X form for $218 from Banana Pi. Alternatively, the same variant can be obtained from third parties on Amazon for $229.99. Please see the Banana Pi wiki for more information about its latest router board.
