Today, Apple officially launched iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1 updates. Although these releases are minor minor updates in terms of numbering, they add an important feature for iPhone and iPad users.
The most prominent feature of the new update is support for the second generation of the AirTag tracking device, which Apple announced on the same day. The new AirTag relies on an advanced UWB chip that enables improved Precision Finding, which is now able to guide users to their lost items from a distance of up to 50%.
The device also received an improved Bluetooth chip with a wider range, along with a 50% stronger speaker compared to the previous version.

With the iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1 updates installed, users can now have full control over the second generation AirTag and take advantage of all its new features.
Besides this, the official release notes indicated the inclusion of a range of bug fixes and stability improvements without revealing additional details.
To install the update, you can go to Settings, then General, then Software Update on eligible iPhone or iPad devices, so the download and installation will begin immediately.
