Apple officially announced the new generation of MacBook Air in 13- and 15-inch sizes, powered by the new M5 chip that features a 10-core central processor and a 10-core graphics processor as well, with an artificial intelligence accelerator (Neural Accelerator) built into each graphics core, allowing 4 times faster performance in artificial intelligence tasks compared to the M4 generation.
This year’s default storage starts at 512GB instead of 256GB in the previous generation, with read/write speeds twice as fast. The device also includes Apple’s new N1 wireless chip that supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, instead of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 in the previous generation. The slim, silent (fanless) design remains the same, with a 500-nit Liquid Retina display, a 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage, and up to 18 hours of battery life.
The device is available in four colours: Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight and Silver. Pre-order begins tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4, while the devices will arrive in markets on March 11, 2026.
Prices: MacBook Air 13-inch for $1,099 and 15-inch for $1,299.
