While rumors point to Xiaomi entering the tracking device market, Apple is developing a new AirTag. The new version was supposed to be launched this year, but the company decided to postpone the launch to the first half of 2026.

When it arrives, the new AirTag will bring an improved pairing process, improved Precision Finding, and a detailed display of battery level.

In addition, it will come with a feature called Improved Moving, which is expected to allow its location to be accurately monitored even while moving. The device will also improve location tracking in crowded places.

It is still unclear whether these features will be available to the original AirTag phones via a software update, and if so, which ones will be determined.

It is worth noting that improved Precision Finding may depend on an upgraded UWB chip, which makes its availability for older devices unlikely.

Additionally, Apple will soon update the HomePod Mini, but it looks like the update will just be a chip replacement.

The new version will use the S10 chip, compared to the S5 chip found in the original version launched in 2020. However, the updated speaker is unlikely to support Apple Intelligence features.
