A report from BenchLive states that AMD plans to showcase its next generation of desktop processors in 2027. It was originally scheduled to launch in 2026, two years after the Zenith 5 architecture debuts in 2024.
A previous roadmap from AMD stated that the next generation of Zen 6 desktop processors would be released sometime in 2026. Given that Zen 5 desktop processors were launched in 2025, and AMD releases new processors every two years, the timeline made sense. However, a new report from Bench Live suggests that we may have to wait a little longer. Apparently, Zen 6 won’t be released until 2027.
On the laptop side, Medusa Point processors based on the Zen 6 architecture were scheduled to arrive in 2027, and there is a high probability that they will be postponed as well. However, we will still get a glimpse of the Zen 6 architecture in AMD’s Epic Finish chipset scheduled for release sometime in 2026. No reason was given for the delay, but it could be due to the limited capacity of TSMC’s N2 node for the Zen 6 cores and the high costs of memory and storage for PC builders themselves.
Popular leakster HXL, who recently stated that the top-spec Ryzen 11000 Zen 6 processor will launch with 24 cores, says that even Intel’s Nova Lake lineup has been pushed back to 2027. Essentially, the rumored updated version of the Arrow Lake will be the only Intel desktop processors to be launched this year. Given AMD’s track record, we may see an exotic AM5 or even AM4 socket processor suddenly appear in 2026.
