Amazon sells its Amazon Go system to other companies

The giant company Amazon has decided to sell its Amazon Go system to other companies specializing in the retail sector, according to Reuters news agency.

Many retail companies have expressed their interest in obtaining the Amazon system, and the company is expected to launch a website today to promote the system, through which other companies can inquire about the system and learn about its full details.

Amazon’s system for stores without a point of sale or cashier uses a combination of technologies and devices. There are cameras placed on the ceiling, weight sensors on the shelves that automatically track the products the customer chooses, and there are motion tracking sensors to monitor the customer’s movement inside the store.

After completing shopping and leaving the store, an invoice for the purchases is issued and sent to the customer via mail and placed in his account with Amazon.

Amazon unveiled the technology at its first Amazon Go store, which opened on the ground floor of its Seattle headquarters in January 2018. Since then, the company has opened more than 20 Amazon Go stores, especially in major cities like Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City. The original model is similar to a 7-Eleven sandwich shop and a Pret a Manger store selling sandwiches, salads, prepared meals and snacks to professionals and workers in areas with lots of office towers.

Amazon first launched this store system three years ago and now has stores operating in 26 different locations within the United States of America.

According to Reuters, Amazon will sell the system to other stores with minor differences. Instead of a sensor recognizing the entry of a customer who carries his phone in his pocket and has the Amazon application and tracking him via GPS, he will need to enter a credit card at the main gate.
