Over the past period, technical circles have circulated rumors about Microsoft working on a free, ad-supported category for the Xbox Cloud Gaming service, and today direct evidence has emerged from the company itself confirming this trend.
Some users reported seeing a new message within the service indicating “one hour of ad-supported play per session,” although this category has not yet been officially launched. However, the move is a clear indication that the company is willing to offer the free option, in line with previous leaks.

According to informed sources, Microsoft plans to launch this new category before the end of this year. This will not be the first experience of its kind in the cloud gaming market, as Nvidia’s GeForce Now platform already offers an ad-supported subscription that allows playing for an hour a day at 1080p resolution.
This trend represents an appropriate opportunity for players to try AAA games without having to spend large sums on assembling a powerful computer, especially in light of the continuous rise in the prices of memory chips and graphics cards during the recent period.
