Last December, 8BitDo began updating its console for fighting games by launching a special edition called Transparent Purple Signature Edition. More than a month after the official announcement, this version is now officially available for purchase.

The 8BitDo Arcade Controller Transparent Purple Edition is available for $94.99 through the official 8BitDo store, and is also sold on Amazon for approximately $95.10. This price is higher than the standard N version, which currently sells for $79.95.

In terms of design, the Transparent Violet Edition is only 1.6cm thick, and is close to the size of an A4 sheet of paper, making it slim and easy to carry.

This version was developed in cooperation with professional fighting game players Vxbao and Zhen, and features a transparent violet body with buttons coordinated in the same color, along with a fingerprint-resistant black tempered glass front panel, similar to the N and Xbox versions. Player signatures also appear in the lower right corner of the unit.

At the specification level, the controller relies on a hot-replaceable PCB, and includes 16 Kailh Purple Glede linear low-profile mechanical switches. It also provides four programmable buttons, which can be replaced with attached locking covers to prevent accidental presses during play.

In terms of compatibility, the console supports Windows, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Switch Lite. The user can switch between Switch mode (S-Input) and Computer mode (X-Input) via the handle in the upper left corner.

The unit also connects via Bluetooth for Switch devices only, and via a 2.4 GHz connection for PC only, in addition to a wired connection via USB for both platforms.

The controller contains a 1000 mAh battery that provides up to 20 hours of continuous play. Furthermore, the unit supports 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 that allows for easy button customization and internal system updating.
