She announced Ministry of Agriculture Land Reclamation announced major achievements in the livestock and poultry development sector during the first half of this January, represented by the issuance of about 465 operating licenses for animal, poultry and fodder projects and dairy collection centres, in addition to 327 registrations for feed mixtures according to standard standards.

This came in a report received by Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, from Dr. Tariq Soliman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, who confirmed that these efforts come in implementation of the directives of the Ministry and Engineer Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister, to overcome obstacles facing investors and breeders, while adhering to all security and biosafety standards, and facilitating the registration of feed mixtures according to scientific standards.

Suleiman explained that among the licenses were 121 permits for small livestock breeding projects, with the application of biosecurity controls in and around those activities in cooperation with the General Authority for Veterinary Services. The new licenses also included 42 technical approvals to establish new projects in accordance with the requirements of the preventive dimension and biosecurity in reclaimed desert areas.

The report indicated that 327 registrations for feed mixtures were issued, including 226 local and 101 imported, in cooperation with the Regional Center for Food and Feed and the Animal Production Research Institute, ensuring the quality of feed and achieving the highest performance rates for livestock, poultry and fish.

To ensure compliance and transparency, the Ministry’s teams launched 8 intensive inspection campaigns on 22 feed factories and stores in several governorates, to detect any storage or withholding of goods with the aim of raising prices, and to ensure that feed is offered in accordance with approved registrations.

The Ministry also organized 8 awareness and guidance seminars for small breeders, which included practical training on the best feeding and herd care techniques, in cooperation with the Animal Production Research Institute, the Animal Health Research Institute, the Regional Center for Food and Feed, and the relevant agricultural directorates.

Within the framework of supporting food security, quantities of table eggs continued to be pumped through 5 mobile marketing outlets at reduced prices ranging between 20 and 25% above the market, with an average of 1,200 dishes per day, in addition to following up on the heads of livestock among beneficiaries of the National Veal Project, and providing technical support on the ground.

It was also approved to export fish feed, poultry products, and frozen poultry (quail, ducks, pigeons, and turkeys) to a number of Arab and foreign countries, while facilitating the application procedures for obtaining operating licenses electronically through Egypt’s digital platforms and mobile phone applications, in a way that speeds up and facilitates the issuance of licenses and government services for breeders and investors.

These achievements reflect the Ministry’s orientation towards enhancing local production, supporting exports, improving the quality of feed, and developing the livestock and poultry wealth system in a way that contributes to food security and sustainable economic growth.
