Vivo has announced the new affordable flagship ICO 15R for the Indian market. The smartphone comes with lower specifications compared to the Echo 15, but still boasts some great features.
The Echo 15R has made its debut in India, where it is launched as a smaller, more affordable version of the Echo 15 that was released in 2025.
The Echo 15R features a 6.59-inch display and has a 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 4320Hz PWM dimming, and 5000 nits of local peak brightness. Below the display is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, while the front camera hole houses a 32-megapixel sensor.
To further distinguish it from the Echo 15 phone, Vivo equipped the Echo 15 R phone with a fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor. Buyers will be able to choose between a version with 8GB or 12GB of RAM paired with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The camera island is a square with rounded corners, but inside it is a circle that houses two sensors, a 50-megapixel Sony LT-700V main camera with an f/1.88 lens aperture and optical image stabilization, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 lens aperture. As is usual with most smartphones these days, users have access to AI tools to enhance images such as AI Retouch, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Season Change, and AI UHD that sharpens images.
The phone comes with Origin OS 6.0, and Vivo promises that it will continue to work smoothly for 5 years. The operating system brings features like live wallpapers, screen mirroring, remote control of Windows and Mac PCs, and a one-click file sharing system that works with Echo phones and iPhones. Software support is also worth praising, as the Echo 15R will receive 4 generations of Android version upgrades and 6 years of security updates.
The Echo 15R has an IP68 and IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. It has a massive 7,600 mAh battery while its thickness is only 7.9 mm. There is support for 100W fast wired charging, bypass charging, and 7.5W reverse wired charging. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, dual SIM support, and a USB 2.0 port.
The IKO 15R is available in Dark Knight, which features a fiberglass back, and Victorious Silver, which features a checkered pattern and a glass back, and is available for pre-order starting today for INR 44,999, or about $495, or €421, for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and INR 47,999, or about $528, or 449 euros, for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space, and 52,999 Indian rupees, which is about 583 dollars or 496 euros, for the version of 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage space. Aiko says it will include a free pair of Aiko TWS 1e earbuds with all pre-orders placed up to 11:59 PM IST on March 1.
