Tariq Al-Sayed Player commented Zamalek Previous to Al-Abyad’s defeat against ZESCO United with an unanswered goal, in the fifth round of the African Confederation Championship, season 2025-2026.
Praise for Motamed Jamal’s playing style and his reliance on possession
Tarek El-Sayed, the former Zamalek player, said in statements to Cairo 24: The technical director, Motamed Gamal, has recently relied on a possession-based playing style, with the presence of five young players on the bench, and this is what we saw in today’s match against Zesco and his service in the past matches, but it did not succeed in today’s match due to many circumstances and the surrounding atmosphere.
Tarek Al-Sayed confirmed that the young players in Zamalek have proven that they are up to the responsibility, explaining that the stadium for Zamalek’s match against ZESCO was very bad, both in terms of ground and general readiness, which made the task difficult for the technical staff during the match.
Zamalek is not required to win championships in the current circumstances
Tarek Al-Sayed added that Zamalek is suffering from many problems, most notably playing three matches within six days, in addition to crises, injuries, and suspension of registration, indicating that in the absence of these conditions, the results would have certainly been better, especially since the team played a playoff match in the Confederation Championship, which makes it difficult to rely on young elements in a short period of time.
Tarek Al-Sayed explained that, in light of all the circumstances that Zamalek is going through, what the team is offering is a great effort, stressing that what is required of the club is to compete in all tournaments, but in the current situation it cannot be asked to win a championship, and if it succeeds in winning any championship, that will be considered a great achievement.
He stressed that his speech was directed to the players and the technical staff, as for the administrative crises, they are the responsibility of the administration, and it must work to solve them, expressing his hope that Zamalek will be successful in winning any championship during the coming period.
