Information and investigations from the tourism, antiquities and public security sectors, in coordination with the Minya Security Directorate, confirmed that two people possessed some antiquities for the purpose of trafficking.

After codifying the procedures, they were targeted and were arrested. They were in possession of 53 various antiquities. When they were confronted, they admitted that the seized antiquities were the result of excavations and archaeological excavations in one of the areas in the Al-Qusiya Police Department in Assiut, and that they possessed them with the intention of trading in them. By presenting the seized items to the antiquities inspectors, it was revealed that all of the seized antiquities were antiquities and dated back to the era of the ancient Egyptian state.
Legal measures were taken.

In a separate context, the security services of the Ministry of Interior were able to seize 526 antiquities in the possession of a person in Minya for the purpose of trafficking.

Information and investigations from the tourism, antiquities and public security sectors, in coordination with the Minya Security Directorate, confirmed that a person residing in the Minya Police Station Department possessed antiquities for the purpose of trafficking, using his residence as a site for carrying out his criminal activity.

After codifying the procedures, he was targeted and arrested, with 526 various antiquities in his possession. When confronted, he admitted that the seized antiquities were the result of excavations and archaeological excavations in a mountainous region, and that he possessed them with the intention of trading in them.

When the seized items were presented to the antiquities inspectors, it was found that all the seized items were antiquities dating back to ancient Pharaonic times, and legal measures were taken.

This comes within the framework of the efforts of the agencies to combat crimes of possession and trafficking in antiquities, in order to preserve the country’s wealth and national heritage.
