The head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, confirmed that the state does not reject the principle of peace or truce, stressing the need for any initiatives to stop the fighting not to be exploited as an opportunity to enable those who are described as the enemy.

Al-Burhan said that those who lay down weapons and side with the peace option are welcome, indicating a readiness to accommodate everyone who chooses to end the fighting and engage in the peaceful path.

The state will take legal measures against the instigators

He also stressed that the state will take legal measures against inciters against the state and the army, stressing that incitement represents a threat to security and stability in the country.

Al-Burhan’s statements come in light of the continuing armed conflict in Sudan, amid repeated regional and international calls for a ceasefire and entry into a comprehensive political path.

Al-Burhan, during media statements he made today, Friday, sent a message of reassurance to the Sudanese people, stressing that the situation is heading towards resolution, and said: “I tell the Sudanese people that victory and the elimination of the rebels are very close.”
