According to health experts at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, the best time to do vigorous exercise during Ramadan is one to two hours after breakfast, when the body has obtained the energy and fluids necessary to practice physical activity safely.

Experts explained that exercising immediately before breakfast may be suitable for some light activities such as walking or stretching exercises, because the person will be able to replace fluids and energy immediately after finishing the exercise at breakfast time.

Exercising in the early hours of the morning

Some people can also exercise before suhoor, as the body still retains some of the energy from the previous breakfast meal, with the possibility of replacing fluids and energy immediately after exercise.

Experts stressed that the intensity of exercise during Ramadan should be less than usual, with emphasis on light or moderate exercise, and avoiding vigorous exercise during fasting hours to avoid dehydration and exhaustion.

In all cases, doctors advise paying attention to drinking sufficient amounts of water between iftar and suhoor, and getting enough sleep, to ensure maintaining physical activity and health during the holy month.
