Dr. Osama Raslan, spokesman for the Ministry of Endowments, revealed the end of the Ministry of Endowments’ contract with the club Zamalek Next August, regarding the lands that the club rented from the Egyptian Endowments Authority.

Statements of the Ministry of Endowments spokesman regarding Zamalek land

Osama Raslan, spokesman for the Ministry of Endowments, said: Zamalek’s relationship with the Endowments consists of two contracts, and each contract has a different description. The first contract is a contract for use of the land and not ownership, and after its end the land returns to the Egyptian Endowments Authority affiliated with the Ministry. The second is a contract for replacement.

Raslan added: The replacement contract is for an area of 91,250 square meters, meaning that after the end of the contract period, the land will be owned by Zamalek Club, and the expiration date of this contract is in August 2026, and at its end the land becomes owned by Zamalek.

The Ministry of Endowments spokesman continued: Zamalek has never failed to pay the installments of this contract, and only one installment remains, and the value of each installment is 875 thousand pounds. Zamalek needs to pay the last installment in August 2026, and the first installment was paid in 2007, which is a contract that lasted 20 years.

The endowment spokesman continued: As for the second contract, it is a usufruct contract, meaning that it is an endowment land and Zamalek rented it only, and after the end of the contract, it returns to the ministry. It is also a contract that began in 2006 and ends in 2026, and the area of the lands belonging to this contract is 50 thousand square meters, and Zamalek pays 500 thousand pounds annually and 4 times in the second contract, and the club also did not default when paying any installment, and the second contract, which is a usufruct contract, cannot be renewed automatically but with the approval of both parties.

Osama Raslan stated: The two contracts with the Zamalek Club are regarding lands for the Zamalek Club in the Mit Oqba branch, and the Ministry has no relationship with Zamalek with any lands in other areas, and once the usufruct contract expires, it will not be renewed automatically, as I said, and both parties must sit down, and we will hear from the Zamalek Club, and if the club does not contact us to renew the contract, it means that we will get the land.

Raslan concluded: The Endowment Authority is entrusted with the endowment funds and manages them but does not own them. It must preserve the land and take care of trust and responsibility. We will see the new contract according to land prices in the same area. As I said, we manage the endowment and do not own it. It is expected that Zamalek will move its legal representatives to move negotiations on the contract to use the 50,000 meters, before the contract expires next August.
