Representative Abla Al-Hawari, member, confirmed House of RepresentativesThe law preventing the marriage of minors will be presented on the 2026 Parliament agenda.
Al-Hawari pointed out, in an exclusive statement to Sada El-Balad, that the continuation of the phenomenon of underage marriage represents a real danger to society, because of its negative effects on health, education, and family stability. She stressed that the delay in approving this law contributed to the exacerbation of the problem, especially in some of the areas most in need of awareness and legal protection.
The Member of Parliament added that the law aims to provide a deterrent legal umbrella that protects girls, and closes loopholes that allow circumvention of the legal age of marriage.
