Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir announced, Minister of Transportannounced the postponement of the implementation of energy-intensive national projects for an additional two months, within the framework of the state’s plan to rationalize electricity consumption.

The Minister explained during his interview with the journalist Amr Adeeb on the “Al-Hekaya” program, that the decision comes in coordination with the concerned authorities, with the aim of reducing pressure on energy resources during the current period, without affecting the completion of strategic projects in the long term.

Kamel Al-Wazir stressed that the state is committed to supporting the companies implementing these projects, noting that they will be compensated in the event of any price increases as a result of the postponement, ensuring that they do not bear additional financial burdens.

He added that these measures reflect the government’s keenness to achieve a balance between the continuity of implementation of national projects and maintaining the stability of energy resources, in light of the current economic challenges.

The importance of the monorail project

In another context, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, confirmed that the monorail project is considered one of the most prominent modern transportation projects in Egypt, due to its high operational efficiency and advanced design, in addition to its cost, which he described as reasonable compared to other means of transportation.

The minister explained that the monorail has a large transport capacity, as it can serve about half a million passengers daily using only 4 cars, with a transit time of up to 5 minutes, which may decrease in the future to 3 minutes, and may even reach about 90 seconds with increased operational intensity.

The Minister denied what was circulated about the monorail passing through completely desert areas, pointing out that the widespread pictures of the project’s pillars in the sand belong to remote areas of 6th of October City, and do not reflect the full path of the project.

He added that the monorail will provide an economical means of transportation for citizens, explaining that if passengers are transported from East Cairo to New Cairo for 20 pounds, from Nasr City to New Cairo for 40 pounds, and all the way to Adala City for 60 pounds, this represents a significant saving compared to other means of transportation.
