On Tuesday evening, the Al-Khawajat Market area on Port Said Street in Mansoura witnessed a huge fire that broke out inside a four-story clothing store.
Cairo 24 obtained some names of the fire victims:
- Ali Muhammad Mustafa Al-Tantawi, 43 years old, resident of Shubra Badin
- Raafat Maher Muhammad, 23 years old
They died as a result of their injuries in the fire.
The following were also injured:
- Ahlam Suleiman Al-Shuwaihi, 70 years old, resident of Port Said Street – suffocation.
- Mohsen Ibrahim Salah Abdel Hamid, 49 years old, civil protection recruit from Minyat Samanoud – suffocation.
- Karim Muhammad Al-Arabi, 19 years old, worker in a clothing store – suffocation.
- Muhammad Samir Farouk Ali, 27 years old, worker and resident of Al-Husseiniya – suffocation.
- Subhi Ismail Al-Ashmawi, 30 years old, worker from Mit Antar – suffocation.
- Walid Khaled Muhammad Ghareeb, worker from Ezbet Al-Shall – suffocation.
Major General Tariq Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, accompanied by Major General Dr. Muhammad Omran, First Assistant Minister of Interior for East Delta, and Major General Essam Hilal, Director of Dakahlia Security, launched efforts to control the fire from the accident site.

Civil Protection dispatched 12 fire engines, in addition to 5 ambulances, while the governor directed that electricity and gas be disconnected from the area, and that water pressure be raised in the fire hydrants, while supporting the site with mobile water trucks.
The governor also assigned the relevant agencies to impose a security cordon to prevent crowding, and to review civil protection procedures and fire hydrants in the area. He explained that most of the injuries were cases of suffocation, and 3 of them were released after receiving treatment.
The governor praised the quick response of the civil protection forces, which succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring shops and buildings, offering his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and stressing the continuation of follow-up until the situation is fully under control.
