The team, engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, revealed: Minister of Transportannounced the reduction of the value of the loan allocated for the implementation of the sixth line metro project by up to 50%, after seeking the help of a number of Egyptian companies in implementing the project.
The Minister explained, during his interview on the “Al-Hekaya” program with the journalist Amr Adeeb, that the entry of about 5 Egyptian companies into the implementation of the sixth line contributed directly to reducing the total cost of the project, and thus reducing the size of the required loan.
He pointed out that the remaining part of the loan was redirected to implement the systems of the second and third phases of the Alexandria Metro project, with the aim of improving mass transportation services within the city.
He stressed that this step comes within the framework of maximizing the use of available funds, in addition to supporting national companies and increasing their participation in the implementation of major projects, which contributes to reducing costs and strengthening the local economy.
He added that the Alexandria Metro project represents a qualitative shift in the transportation system within the “Bride of the Mediterranean,” as it aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide a civilized and safe service to citizens.
