He received President Abdel Fattah SisiToday, Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian company Eni, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and on the company’s side; Guido Brusco, CEO of Natural Resources Operations, Francesco Gasparri, General Manager of the company’s branch in Egypt, and Mahmoud Abu Al-Yazid, Deputy General Manager of the company’s branch in Egypt.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President began the meeting by welcoming the CEO of Eni, expressing his appreciation for the existing cooperation between the Egyptian state and Eni, especially since the Italian company contributes about 40% of natural gas production in Egypt. The President also praised the company’s societal role, through its support for many development projects in Egypt.

Italian Eni to Sisi: We intend to pump additional investments into Egypt amounting to $8 billion within 5 years.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, stated that the CEO of Eni, in turn, affirmed his pride in the fruitful cooperation between the two sides, praising in this context the efforts of the Egyptian state to facilitate investors, in a way that benefits both parties, and reiterated his company’s keenness to strengthen its role as one of the largest players in the energy market in Egypt, due to the promising opportunities that the sector possesses, whether in terms of local production or export abroad.

Descalzi pointed out that the company intends, in cooperation with partners, to pump additional investments into the Egyptian market with a total value of $8 billion over the next five years, in the field of developing existing fields and carrying out more exploration.
