Engineer Mohamed Ibrahim, Vice President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, confirmed that the agency is working in parallel on technical and legislative preparations to implement the law Protection of children Of the dangers of social networking sites, he pointed out that the ongoing discussions within the House of Representatives and the community dialogue between government agencies aim to issue legislation that fully regulates this system.

Ibrahim explained, during television statements, that the discussions include determining the target age group, as proposals ranging between 15 and 16 years are being circulated, while Egyptian law defines a child up to the age of 18 years, stressing that the device will be technically ready for implementation as soon as the law is issued, in cooperation with telecommunications companies.
In a related context, the deputy head of the agency announced the start of implementing a system for paying customs duties in installments on mobile phones, in cooperation with the Egyptian Customs Authority and consumer finance companies, pointing out that citizens can currently pay fees in installments through these companies according to the terms of each company.
He pointed out that this service is optional, as the citizen can pay immediately without installments, stressing that the state does not obtain any benefits from the installment process, and that the matter is limited to commercial agreements between the customer and financing companies, which may offer different payment systems in terms of duration and interest.
He added that the aim of this step is to make it easier for citizens and give them greater flexibility in paying fees, while preserving the freedom to choose between immediate payment or installments.
