Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, confirmed the continuation of intensive cleaning campaigns in the Al-Haram neighborhood in Giza Governorate, in continuation of previous efforts that were implemented in a number of streets, within the framework of responding to citizens’ complaints and improving the level of environmental services, explaining that the Ministry’s Waste Management Regulatory Authority continues to implement these campaigns in coordination with the concerned authorities, within an integrated plan to raise the efficiency of the cleaning system and restore discipline to the streets.

Meanwhile, Yasser Abdullah, CEO of the Waste Management Regulatory Agency, launched a follow-up to the campaign, which was implemented in cooperation with Erteqaa Integrated Services and Waste Recycling Company, and under the supervision of Engineer Ahmed Saad, the technical director of the agency, and Dr. Ayman Muharram, Managing Director and CEO of Erteqaa Company, and in coordination with Major General Muhammad Al-Dubaie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Cleaning and Beautification of Giza, Major General Ahmed Thabet, Head of Al-Haram District, and Mr. Tamer George, Vice President of Al-Haram District, South Sector.
Dr. explained. Manal Awad said that the campaigns resulted in the removal of about 410 tons of waste and accumulations from a number of axes, including Zaghloul Street, the Ring Road, Zaghloul Tunnel up to the Abu Nomros border, Al-Fariq Street with Al-Majar Street, as well as Rashah Abu Awad, Al-Tawhid Mosque Street, and Nazlet Al-Samman, through the provision of equipment and vehicles necessary for speedy completion and improvement of the environmental condition.
The Minister of Local Development and Environment indicated that during the campaigns, three main collection points for waste that were being used illegally were eliminated, in a step aimed at eliminating hotbeds of accumulation and preventing their return again. The Minister stressed the continuation of field follow-up and the intensification of campaigns periodically, while taking strict measures against violators, especially scavengers, and confiscating equipment and vehicles used to randomly dump waste or trade excrements without a license.
Dr. confirmed. Manal Awad said that these efforts come within a comprehensive plan to maintain public health and improve the level of cleanliness, stressing the need for continued coordination between all concerned parties to ensure the sustainability of the results and preserve the civilized appearance of the Haram neighborhood, while enhancing the efficiency of the waste management system and dealing immediately with any new gatherings.
Othman Ali, Director of Follow-up in Al-Haram District, and Mohamed Saber, Head of the Sector at the General Authority for Cleaning and Beautification of Giza, participated in the campaign.
