Toni Fresha responds sarcastically to Atletico Madrid after losing the cup
Fresha’s responses came days after a previous post by Atletico on his account on the “X” platform, where he posted a picture of the floor of his “Metropolitano” stadium with a sarcastic comment about “the smell of cut grass,” in reference to Barcelona’s complaint about the condition of the field during a previous match in the Champions League.
After the cup final, Freisha responded sarcastically, saying: “You forgot to tell us what the grass of La Cartuja Stadium smelled like,” referring to the stadium of the final match.
He was not satisfied with that, but posted other tweets in which he alluded to Barcelona’s suffering from refereeing decisions, where he wrote: “Playing against 11 players is more difficult,” before congratulating Real Sociedad on winning the title.
Freisha’s statements reflect the continued tension between the two parties, especially after the recent eliminations suffered by Barcelona at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and King’s Cup.
Real Sociedad wins the King’s Cup after defeating Atletico on penalties
Real Sociedad won the Spanish King’s Cup after defeating Atletico Madrid on penalties 4-3, after regular and extra time ended in a 2-2 draw in the final match at La Cartuja Stadium.
Sociedad took an early lead before Atletico equalized through Ademola Lookman, then Oyarzabal scored the lead goal from a penalty kick, before Julian Alvarez equalized in the 83rd minute.
In extra time, the two teams failed to win, and the title was decided on penalty kicks in favor of Sociedad, which won the championship for the fourth time in its history, while Atletico lost the final despite strong competition.
