Today, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, South Sinai Governorate is witnessing a state of atmospheric instability, as thunderstorms are expected that may be heavy and reach the point of flooding in some areas, with strong wind activity, low temperatures and chances of snowfall at night on the highlands, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.

The most prominent weather features in South Sinai

The governorate is witnessing moderate to heavy rains (sometimes thunderstorms) with a high probability of torrents forming in the highlands, such as St. Catherine and the Gulf of Aqaba.
Strong wind activity (speed of 40-50 km/h) may stir up sand and dust, leading to deterioration of horizontal visibility, with a noticeable drop in temperatures with frost at night, especially in mountainous areas.

Warning to citizens
The South Sinai Governorate advises citizens to be extremely careful on highways (especially the Martyr Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and the Suez Road), and to avoid standing under trees or billboards.

For its part, the Meteorological Authority explained that today, Wednesday, there is a strong state of instability in weather conditions and chances of heavy rain and thunderstorms at times, which may be accompanied by chances of hail falling in the governorates of Matrouh, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dakahlia, Damietta, Port Said, Gharbia, Menoufia, and Sharqia.

It may reach the point of flooding in areas of South Sinai, northern Red Sea Governorate, and the Gulf of Suez and Aqaba at intermittent intervals, and the chances of moderate rain may increase at times as the daylight hours advance.

It will be thundery at times, accompanied by hailstones falling over the governorates of Greater Cairo, the cities of Canal, Al-Ghayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya at intermittent intervals.

There are chances of light to moderate rain in the governorates of central and southern Upper Egypt, the Western Desert, and the south of the Red Sea governorate, and wind activity ranging in speed from 40-58 km/h, which increases the feeling of cold weather, which may cause sand and dust, deteriorating visibility to less than 1,000 meters in areas of the Western Desert and the south of the country, and temperatures dropping by 3-4 degrees.

As for the conditions of the Mediterranean Sea, it is moderate, the waves are about 2.5 meters high, and the wind is northwesterly. As for the Red Sea, it is moderate, the waves are about 2 meters high, and the wind direction is northwesterly.
I am in the Gulf of Suez, the waves reach a height of about 4 metres.
