The Egyptian youth national team, born in 2007, concluded its preparations today, Monday, to face its Algerian counterpart in the second friendly match, scheduled to be held at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, at the National Teams Center Stadium, in 6th of October City.
The team played its last training session under the leadership of Wael Riyad, the technical director, who was keen to hold a session with the players, during which he gave them final instructions, while emphasizing the necessity of avoiding the mistakes that appeared during the first friendly match, and working to improve the collective performance, before the expected confrontation.
The first friendly match, which brought together the two teams, last Saturday, ended in a positive draw with a score of 2-2, within the current team camp, in the national teams center.
The junior national team loses to Morocco in the North African qualifiers
In another context, the Egyptian junior national team lost to its Moroccan counterpart (1-2) in the confrontation that brought together the two sides at the Al-Ittihad Military Stadium in the Libyan city of Benghazi in the third round of the North African (ONAF) qualifiers for the U-17 African Cup finals.
The match, which was officiated by Libyan referee Mohamed Fawzi Al-Agha, saw the Moroccan national team take the lead with a goal by Rami Lokmani in the 24th minute when he followed the ball that bounced off goalkeeper Malek Omar as a result of Eliane Haddadi’s shot from the cross sent by Adam Boughazir from the left side. The Egyptian response came in the 41st minute through defender Adel Alaa when he followed the ball that Daniel Tamer shot from a direct foul outside the penalty area and it bounced off goalkeeper Adam Al-Maash’s post. In the second half, specifically in the 85th minute, he scored. Adnan Al-Bojovi scored the winning goal after he converted the ball shot by his teammate Marouane Bentaleb from outside the penalty area to the left of Malek Amr.
