The Amayer Endowments area in the village of Maqousa in the Minya Center witnessed a horrific accident, after a semi-truck collided with a number of parked cars, resulting in serious material losses and the injury of a mechanic while he was working inside one of the cars.
The owner of a taxi damaged in the accident said, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that his car is his only source of livelihood, stressing that the accident caused his entire situation to be in disarray, adding: “The taxi is my source of livelihood and I am on the street and have no other source of income, and the driver of the vehicle who hit the vehicles does not have a license and is under the legal age and is driving a jumbo vehicle, and this in a second could have caused many victims.”
In a related context, the owner of a private car that was damaged in the accident said that he had left his car with a mechanic to repair a minor fault, before he received a sudden phone call, saying: “I was bringing the car to fix a simple fault, and suddenly the mechanic called me and told me to come quickly. I came to find the car turned into junk.”
For his part, the brother of the injured mechanic revealed the details of the difficult moments of the accident, explaining that his brother was working under one of the cars during the collision. He said: “My brother was under the car and working and miraculously survived, but he was seriously injured, and no one asked us about the owners of the car that caused the accident, even out of a humanitarian aspect.”
The security services moved to the scene immediately after it occurred, and the injured person was taken to the hospital to receive treatment, and the car that caused the accident was seized.
The competent authorities ordered the imprisonment of the driver who caused the accident pending the case, and began investigating him, especially after it was proven that he was driving the car without a license and that he was under the legal age, with the necessary legal procedures completed.
