A railway source told Cairo 24 that the decision comes within the framework of ensuring regular operation and reducing the impact on train schedules, while fully adhering to safety and security procedures until the accident site is dealt with, and avoiding stopping trains and disrupting operation.
The Egyptian National Railway Authority formed a specialized technical committee to investigate the incident of one of the cars of train No. 544 derailing, while traveling on the Cairo-Menouf line, between the villages of Shenwan and Al-Hamoul in Menoufia Governorate, to determine the causes of the accident and take the necessary measures.
The source confirmed that the incident did not result in any injuries among the passengers or the operating crew, and it is being dealt with in accordance with approved safety procedures.
He added that emergency teams and specialized technical crews were immediately dispatched to the site of the accident to secure the movement of trains, remove the carriage that derailed, and work to restore orderly movement on the line as soon as possible.
The source explained that the formed committee began the technical examination of the train’s components and the condition of the track, in preparation for preparing a comprehensive report on the circumstances of the incident, while emphasizing that passenger safety remains a top priority for the Egyptian National Railway Authority.
