A member of the Foodstuffs Division at the Federation of Chambers of Commerce explained in statements to Cairo 24 that the average price of a ton decreased by more than 600 pounds, with the price of a ton ranging between 23,000 and 24,000 in the markets.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, confirmed that there is no intention to move the prices of food supplies or subsidized bread during the year 2026, stressing that the state aims to maintain the stability of current prices.
The minister explained in a television intervention that the ministry places the citizen’s aspirations at its top priority, noting that there is a general trend to increase the value of cash support for the individual, as the current amount of 50 pounds no longer meets the needs, pointing out that the citizen currently obtains through the support system goods whose market value exceeds one hundred pounds thanks to the government support philosophy.
Regarding the sugar file, the Minister reassured citizens that the strategic reserve is sufficient for the country’s consumption for a period exceeding ten months, stressing that current prices are much better than last year and are characterized by a high degree of stability.
